Case Studies

  • Watertown Boys & Girls Club

We were thrilled to be able to install our first system at the Watertown (MA) Boys and Girls Club. The Club is dedicated to guiding and coaching children to academic success, character development and social understanding.

We expect it to generate over 44,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year. Over the life of the system, we expect to save 850 tons of carbon dioxide--the equivalent of planting 56,000 trees.

All of the costs for the system have been borne by Rise Up Solar, we expect the Boys and Girls Club to save over $200,000 in electricity bills.

35 Tuttle St. @ Pine Street Inn

This is the first of four systems with Pine Street Inn, New England’s largest homeless services provider.

35 Tuttle St. is a three story building, with 27 units for affordable supportive housing for long term residents.

Over 30,000 kilowatt hours of electricity will be generated per year. We expect the panels to save over 500 tons of CO2 emissions - the equivalent of saving over 548,000 lbs of coal burned.

The total savings of $100,000 will allow them to keep their money where it matters.

  • Beverly Bootstraps

Our system at Beverly Bootstraps supports a great team that delivers over 400,000 pounds of food per year, plus counseling and other critical resources, to families in need on the North Shore.

Installed in 2021, the system generates over 51,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year for the next 25 years, and will save Beverly Bootstraps over $200,000 compared to fossil fuel electric bills. As always, Rise Up Solar bore all of the costs involved.

Over their 25-year life, the panels will save 927 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 94,000 gallons of gasoline or 929,000 pounds of coal.

155 Geneva Ave. @ Pine St Inn

This property is the second system we’ve done with Pine Street Inn. 155 Geneva Ave. has been focusing on elderly supportive affordable housing since 2005.

The system generates more than 700,000 kilowatt hours of electricity over the system’s lifespan - the equivalent to 56,000 gallons of gasoline saved.

We expect Pine Street Inn to save $94,000 in electricity bills.

  • Family Services of Merrimack Valley

Family Services of Merrimack Valley, based in Lawrence, MA, supports over 7,000 people each year with counseling, emotional wellness programs, and other vital services. Their 20 current programs and 160-year history have made them a lifeline available to all.

Our system on their roof will generate over 35,000-kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The total savings of $136,000 on their energy bills will enable even better community support.

And for our global community, the panels will save over 650 tons of CO2 emissions—the equivalent of 1.5 million passenger car miles.

  • Zumix

ZUMIX is a creative program in East Boston that uses music to empower kids, teach them life lessons, and build for their futures. Their converted firehouse has a roof smaller than most, so rather than the standard Rise Up formula, we donated half the cost of an 11kW system, with other donors covering the rest.

With no internal funds used, ZUMIX is on track to save over $50,000 compared to fossil fuels and avoid 200 tons of CO2 emissions. That’s equivalent to keeping 63 tons of waste out of a landfill. Let the music play!

  • The building at 444 Harrison Ave

444 Harrison Ave @ Pine Street Inn

Our system at 444 Harrison Ave. consists of two buildings, totalling 79,750 square feet. Their emergency shelter can support 350 beds and 7 units of supportive affordable housing. Additionally, breakfast and dinner are served 7 days a week.

Their roof will now generate over 75,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. Which is the equivalent to planting over 20,000 trees and growing them for 10 years.

Meanwhile, Pine Street Inn will be saving $230,000 on their electricity bill.
